As the effort continues to garner enough financial support to keep BC going strong, many readers have written to us asking how they can help out.  We have six suggestions:

  1. Become a BC Paid Subscriber.  We see the web statistics, and we know how many of you read BC each week.  We hear from readers how valuable BC is in their lives, and we wonder what it will take for more of you to open your wallets and purchase a BC Paid Subscription, just as you open the new issue of BlackCommentator.com each week.
  2. Become a BC Contributor.  Our Friends of BC Page lists those readers who have contributed financial support in addition to purchasing a BC Paid Subscription (and agreed to have their name acknowledged).  We truly appreciate their generosity.  Will you add your name to the ranks of the Friends of BC?
  3. Join the Home Page Project.  At every opportunity, make BC the home page of the computer you’re using – no matter where it is – your library, computer store, internet café, friends, family or school.  You will be spreading the word about BC.
  4. Have a Google party (with or without guests).  Google a subject, person or phrase you know is in an issue of BlackCommentator.com.  When Google Search returns a link to BC, click on it.  This helps BC get closer to the top of Google searches, and increases the chance that a new reader will click onto our website.  This party is much more fun accompanied by the beverage of your choice.
  5. Email BC articles to everyone you think should read them (and even to those you don’t think will).  Use the convenient Send Page to Friend link, located on the left side of every page.
  6. Request other websites you visit link to BlackCommentator.com.  The more exposure BC gets, the greater the readership, the more BC Paid Subscribers; you get the idea.

We’re serious about needing your financial support.  We accept very few ads, and never with any editorial strings.  You won’t see pop-up ads blocking your view of BC.  You won’t be annoyed by junk email filling up your Inbox from ads that place spyware on your computer.  We are committed to keeping BC “Junk-Ad” free, but that means our financial support must come from our readers.

Ask yourself this:  Is it worth a little over a $1 an issue to read and rely on BC?  We are unique among websites, giving you commentary, analysis and investigations on issues affecting African Americans.  We are the only political site of which we are aware that offers art, both in recognition of Black artists, and the importance of art to our culture.  We are unwavering in our pursuit of social and economic justice, and speaking truth to power.

As you read this issue, make the decision to become a BC Paid Subscriber and a BC Contributor.  And please remember, if money is really tight for you, you can request a Complimentary BC Paid Subscription to get all the benefits of a BC Paid Subscription for free.

If you have any questions regarding BC Paid Subscriptions, BC Contributions, logging on or navigating around the website, email Nancy Littlefield at [email protected].  BC Co-Publisher and Chief Technical Officer Peter Gamble may be contacted at [email protected].
