BC may have been on hiatus, but the BC Paid Subscribers and BC Contributors certainly weren’t! We welcomed 51 new BC Paid Subscribers during the weeks of The Best of BC. Additionally, over 100 people signed up for the free email Notification of Publication. Another 12 readers requested and received Complimentary BC Paid Subscriptions. That’s all good news in terms of growing the readership of The BlackCommentator, and helpful in terms of keeping BC financially viable.
By far, however, it’s the BC Contributors, most of whom are also BC Paid Subscribers, who are responsible for the big step forward toward reaching the BC Survival goal. You will see their impact illustrated in the two charts below:
Those of you who have either made a one-time contribution to BlackCommentator, or who have committed to regular, recurring financial support, are tipping the scale in favor of us being able to continue publication. While the commentators and staff of BC may be putting out each issue, this is a group effort that includes you. It is obvious to all of here at BC that the financial support of our readers is every bit as important to this publication as the contributions of the writers, programmers and web technicians. We hope it is obvious to you, too, what an important role you have in this publication.
This is your publication. It’s your readership and response to BC that keeps us working hard, just as it’s your financial support that enables us to do so. Seeing your response during the BC hiatus renews us and furthers our commitment to BlackCommentator in a way a few weeks of time off could never accomplish. We’re glad to have so many of you standing with us, side-by-side, supporting this effort. And we pledge, with your help, to keep on speaking truth to power.
