This has always been our policy, and will continue being so.

We’re approaching the 200th issue of BlackCommentator.com, and more than ever, are grateful to the BC Community for both the readership and financial support that has sustained this publication since April 5, 2002. That was the date of the first publication of BlackCommentator.com, and though while we suspected at the time that there would be an audience for a publication focused on social and economic justice, and filled with commentary, investigations and analysis on issues of interest to African-Americans, we have come to understand, even better, how great the need is for BC. Well over 100,000 readers visit each week, and we continue to hear from readers how valuable they find the publication for their classrooms, local issues campaigns, and daily lives.

It has now been nine months since Peter Gamble came to the end of the personal funds he had used to get BC established, and we began asking readers to support the website by becoming BC Paid Subscribers and BC Contributors. Your response has been strong, and has made the continuation of BlackCommentator.com possible. And we haven’t forgotten all the readers who are not able to pay for a BC Paid Subscription. We have answered every request for a Complimentary BC Paid Subscription with a full annual subscription, including full access to the BC Archives, Past Issues, Search, Think Pieces, Cartoons, etc.

So where are we now? We’re right on track, which means that we need you to become a member of the BC family by becoming a BC Paid Subscriber and BC Contributor. We need for the BC base to continue growing so that BlackCommentator.com can remain independent and strong, speaking truth to power.

What can you do?  If you’re not yet a BC Paid Subscriber, become one today by visiting the Sign-Up page. And don’t hesitate to ask for a Complimentary BC Paid Subscription because while it doesn’t help the coffers, we value your readership. If you’re already a BC Paid Subscriber, become a BC Contributor with either an occasional contribution, or by setting up a recurring contribution.

We have until December 31st to raise the funds we need to keep going beyond the expiration of the last BC Paid Subscription. We are committed to bringing you some of the best commentary on the net, and we hope you will continue to share in that commitment through your financial support and your readership.

Thank you.
