Waging War Everywhere:
Good Reason to Impeach!
Represent Our Resistance
By Dr. L. Jean Daniels, PhD

The impeachment crisis of 1998 was serious! President William Clinton engaged in oral sex with Monica Lewinsky - not in 1998 but sometime after he took office. In September, 1998, after Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr had been conducting a Grand Jury on the issue for what seemed ages, he filed a report with Congress. For Starr, there was “substantial and credible information that President William Jefferson Clinton committed acts that may constitute grounds for an impeachment” (Eagleton Institute of Politics/Clinton impeach). Yes, the President could not keep his pants zipped! Consequently, the “acts” he engaged in with his pants unzipped, constituted a grave, grave (to use Obama’s words on what it would take to impeach) threat to the security of this nation! At best, wives across the country would have to engage in oral sex with their husbands! The horror!

But let us go on. The House of Representatives approved of the House Resolution 525 to authorize the Committee on the Judiciary to review the report. This is September 11—still 1998. October 8, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee introduced House Resolution 581, authorizing the Judiciary to “authorize whether sufficient grounds existed for the impeachment of the President” (Eagleton Institute of Politics). The Committee heard more testimony. Nightly news was swamped with news. Cameras captured folks coming and going. It was grave!

December 11 and 12, (see how fast this government works when it wants to!), the Committee approved FOUR ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT for presentation to the full House. The House debated and approved two of the four articles. Clinton lied and presented misleading testimony!

Finally, the Impeachment Trial in the Senate began in January 1999. We were all the better for it—such grave “acts” of… of what? Starr said Clinton committed acts that constituted grounds for impeachment? Senator Obama, who is running for the same seat Clinton had, thinks King George and Darth Vader are just “bums,” just guys who have not done anything deliberate! On what planet is Obama calling in from? “I think you reserve impeachment,” he said, “for grave, grave breaches, and intentional breaches of the president’s authority.” Oh, this would require a hoot! But it is so damn grave, we can’t laugh, Obama!

If King George and Darth Vader and the rest of the gang in the White House would only find themselves a Monica or two, think of the soldiers and Iraqis who would still be alive! Fill the White House, the Pentagon, and the Congress with Monicas! If they would only keep themselves busy with themselves, the country would have a chance at salvaging the damage these heartless, no conscious, psychos—very much intent on a Kingdom on Earth for themselves and the multinationals—at the expense of everyone else.

Now, Al Qaeda is coming again. Al Qaeda will come as long as these thugs remain in the White House. Al Qaeda will come by hook or crook.

War is profitable. Its chaos shuffles people (usually those of color and poor) about, if it does not kill them out right. When the smoke clears from the shock and awe attacks, the people lie dead and walking among them in a daze are the malleable survivors, others are heading for the borders. This is a sought-after scenario. Darth Vader’s presses a button and the bell rings. Bingo! Halliburton and Blackwater are moving toward the rubbles. Troops are sent in to secure key locations in this carnage. Insurgents, who look like the dead and dazed, come seeking retribution.

It is a likely chance that these insurgents, engage the U.S. troops with weapons sold by the Pentagon. According to Frida Berrigan’s report for the Los Angeles Times, the U.S. is the “first in weapons sales” since September 11, 2001. This government has sold 10-13 billion dollars worth of weapons, and in 2006, it sold 21 billion worth of weaponry to countries such as Angola, Chad, Colombia, Ethiopia, Israel, Pakistan, and the Philippines, according to Abid Aslam’s “US Selling More Weapons to Undemocratic Regimes That Support ‘War on Terror.’” Check your conflict map; most of these countries are engaged in internal strife or combat with their neighbors. The U.S. leads the world in the sale of “surface-to-air missiles” and first in the sale of “military ships.” It does not just send weapons to “some of the world’s most repressive and undemocratic regimes,” as Abid Aslam writes, but is the first in “military training” at the cost of 90 million dollars, reports Berrigan.

Turkey will receive 1.78 billion from a Lockheed Martin deal for F-16 fighter planes, and according to Berrigan, these planes are already working their magic for Isreal, “the United Arab Emirates, Poland, South Korea, Venezuela, Oman, and Portugal.”

“America’s determination to actively oppose the threats of our time was formed and fixed on September the 11th, 2001…They seek weapons of mass destruction to kill Americans on an even greater scale. And this danger is increased when outlaw regimes build or acquire weapons of mass destruction and maintain ties to terrorist group.” I did not make this up. This is King George, on July 12, 2007! It was his “Progress in the War on Terror” Speech. Do you get the feeling that maybe Darth Vader is standing behind King George, holding a mirror out in front of the King, and George, instead of reading a teleprompter, sees his own agenda and projects his agenda on his pals with the golden liquid?

Okay. In 2005, Senator Hilary Clinton praised the hard work of the residents of Owego after Lockheed Martin won the highly prized contract to bill the “presidential Marine One helicopter” in the state of New York, according to the Village Voice. She likes Lockheed Martin, and they like her too. Last year alone, she worked on her “pet project,” acquiring “$156 million dollars in military construction projects” for the state of New York. Marine One helicopter in New York, but Lockheed Martin’s F-16 fighters got to go somewhere! Specialized jobs for shock and awe?

This just a reminder: Democrats are not your friends; they have friends and you are not one of them.

It will never be about you, or your election machines or your vote! It will not be about your health care issues, your living wages, or your rights as an immigrant, or ruined home in New Orleans, or the incarceration rate of your children, or your children’s education, separate and equal or separate or unequal. It will certainly not be about your civil liberties or your Constitution!

This government had to invade Iraq and remove the “dictator,” the evil doer,” the yielder of weapons of mass destruction. It had to “smoke” him out of his cave and hang him up because of his weapons of mass destruction—which have not been found yet—five years later. But now—now—weapons of mass destruction are everywhere! All who want to join the Empire and wage war—against “terror,” will be rewarded with more and more weaponry from King George.

This warring behavior makes sense?

Peace. Peace?

“We have followed this strategy” (smoking out terrorists wherever they maybe) and by doing so, the U.S. is engaged in “defending peace, protecting the peace”—and mind you—“extending the peace,” proclaims the King, George.

Three years ago, he said, a “private weapons proliferation network was doing business around the world.” They have been snuffed. The U.S. of A. has replaced these wanabees—ah, terrorists. This nation leads in the proliferation of weapons distributed among its favored “pet-nations” that, in turn, stage O.K. Corral gunfights all over the planet.
Hear King George grinning! Darth Vader is torturing his own forefinger pressing that button. Hear it ring to the tune of 2, 348, 000,000 last year for Halliburton alone!

We did not ask the Masters to kindly give us citizenship or our voting rights. Those neighboring countries of the dead and dazed survivors will not be heard if they ask for peace. Peace is not approachable when the proliferation of weapons is profitable and leads to more land for the world’s largest and wealthiest landlord. Nick Turse reports that the Pentagon has bases in “39 nations and stations personnel in 140 countries” (“How the Pentagon Came to Own the Earth, Seas, and Skies”). “All told, the Department of Defense owns up to having ‘[o]ver $1 trillion in assets [and] $1.6 trillion in liabilities.”

The U.S. is in the business of war for more airbases, for more oil fields, for more profits for oil corporations buddies. “This ain’t living. This ain’t living. Ah, no. no.”

This business of killing, direct or by proxy, is not making the U.S. safe nor is about bringing democracy and peace to anyone.

The impeachment crisis of 2007 is much more serious than the one of 1998, which in comparison, looks like a farce.

King George and Darth Vader’s acts are grave, not just for this country but for all people around the world, for the world itself! We voted for Al Gore, remember. Impeachment of these two criminals is imperative. Let us relief Darth Vader of torturing his forefinger. No Bingo!
