On February 19, 2009 we reported that the explanation about the "emergency" was simple.  We told our readers the very small group of people who are financially responsible for BlackCommentator.com have run out of money.

In this message we will provide an update to our fund raising while repeating sections of the last message for those who may not read every issue of BC.

As we approach our 7th anniversary in April we are faced with inadequate funds to pay the basic bills to keep this enterprise running.

We who have attempted to pay for food, clothing and shelter with income from BC see the end of February coming and no money to pay for essential services to keep our households and the publication and up and running.

We have invested our life savings into this small part of the movement for economic justice, social justice and peace. We have borrowed as much money as our credit will allow and can borrow no more.

We have borrowed money from friends and family and can borrow no more.

Until now a number of individuals have sent us contributions to help us keep going and we are sincerely thankful.

Now, however, we admit we need more help.

If you are one of those who has send us hard earned dollars, we thank you very much.  If you are able to send a little more now, please do it today.

For me, this situation is very sad and humiliating.  So many wonderful brilliant activists have put forth their inspiring, hopeful, doubtful and angry ideas and plans on the pages of BC.  We at BC will always be proud to have been of service.

If you are able to give us a hand in this hour of need, we promise to continue to create a medium of communication that represents the diversity that exists in the progressive Black community and among all progressive people of good will.

BC has readers in over 145 countries, all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

We announced a survival goal for the month of no less than $4,200 (four thousand two hundred dollars). We require this amount to keep BC alive.

As of February 26, 2009 a total of $ 2,287 has been contributed by readers like you. The total came in amounts ranging from $10 to $500. We appreciate each contribution because we know how difficult the financial picture is for many of you at this time. So we are still $ 1,913 short of our goal.

Please click here to make a contribution right now to keep our voice alive.

Thank you very much.

In solidarity and peace,

Peter Gamble, Publisher, BlackCommentator.com
