More of the Same: Obama, the Corporate Media, and the Evisceration of the People - Keeping It Real - By Larry Pinkney - BlackCommentator.com Editorial Board

In the very name of supposed “change,” the Obama / Biden administration and the slimy U.S. corporate media, in concert with its same age old corporate bosses, have brought the people of this nation a continuation of double speak & hypocrisy, massive economic disintegration, illegitimate wars abroad, and no universal, single-payer health care.

For approximately two years now. I have been sounding the alarm that the smooth talking, slippery tongued Barack Obama is actually beholden to that from which he comes: that is the Wall Street blood suckers and the corporate / military industrial apparatus of this nation. As Obamatron apologists ignore this fundamental, underlying, and controlling reality, the suffering of the masses of people both nationally and internationally, increases by leaps and bounds.

The U.S. corporate media consciously and overwhelmingly dismisses and/or attempts to marginalize genuine and time tested spokespersons of the people, such as former U.S. Congresswoman and 2008 Green Party U.S. presidential candidate, Cynthia McKinney. This same tactic is used by said media against the majority of Black, White, Brown, Red, and Yellow peoples themselves / ourselves.

It is no wonder then that the U.S. “news” media substantially ignored the fact that U.S. citizen and former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and numerous other international humanitarian dignitaries and aid persons, were kidnapped and held in jail by the rouge government of Israel before and even during the U.S. July 4th “Independence Day” celebrations. Get info on BC and twitterWhile this served as a stark reminder of the hypocrisy and mockery of U.S. so-called “independence” and justice (even on behalf of its own citizens), it should come as no surprise whatsoever that the pro-apartheid Zionist Barack Obama has installed as his White House Chief of Staff none other than pro-apartheid Zionist zealot Rahm Emanuel. Where was the collective outcry from Barack Obama, members of the U.S. Senate & House of Representatives, and from the Congressional Black Caucus?! Where was the collective outcry?! It was nowhere. The outcry from these quarters was deafening in its silence. The people of the United States are not “independent,” but rather are hostages to avaricious corporate and apartheid Zionist interests which, in essence, means unending wars for profit and hegemony at the horrible expense of everyday people.

The U.S. corporate media, in its dumbing-down process of the people, engages in a constant barrage of gossip, games, and so-called hidden deals. In-depth and serious coverage, combined with intelligent analysis of important and urgent economic and political concerns, have become taboo and are treated as such. This media treats people to spectacles, as if in some Roman coliseum, not in-depth news and analysis. More than ever before, the actual objective of the U.S. corporate media (i.e. most print media, television, and radio, etc.) is to emotionally distract people, not intelligently inform them. Indeed, the very last thing the U.S. corporate media ever wants is an intelligently informed people in this nation.

The corporate media should never be confused with being a real peoples’ movement. It is not. In fact, more often than not it is the antithesis of any such movement, just as Barack Obama is the antithesis of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who was brutally assassinated for, among other things, his opposition to U.S. war abroad and economic exploitation at home. Clearly, the U.S. corporate media knew this about then U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama, which is why it so vigorously and overwhelmingly supported him, sucking many millions of people in this nation (and throughout the world) into this deadly corporate political charade.

The peoples of the United States of America are being economically, politically, and culturally eviscerated by the same old blood-sucking corporate policies which are now being faithfully continued by the Obama / Biden administration (regime), as exemplified by the trillion dollar bail out of the Wall Street barons, over the opposition of the vast majority of citizens in this land. The question is, how long will the majority of people tolerate this from the Republicrats (i.e. the Democrat and Republican Parties)? It is suggested that this evisceration will not be accepted much longer, especially as it pertains to urgent economic concerns, continued wars abroad, and the need for universal, single-payer health care for the peoples of this nation.

Our task is to continue to organize, educate, and agitate. Only we, the Black, White, Brown, Red, and Yellow peoples of this land, will make a serious and fundamental difference.

Onward then my sisters and brothers. Onward in this most momentous task!
