White lives have always mattered... more than anyone else’s. This observation is so obvious and true, to a nauseating point, and you’ve got to scream: “why-oh-why can’t the blind see?!”

Isn’t this undeniable fact of life the essence of what this national, if not global conversation breaks-down to? White lives have more inherent, intrinsic and inalienable “value” then any other human being? A White person’s life, particularly White males who have money, their lives have always had more societal value than anyone else’s. The more money they have, the more their interest, their desires, their priorities and goals, alas their lives matter in day-to-day life, in the court of public opinion. As a group, White men are regarded as competent, good, decent, honest and upright . . . until proven otherwise. While in direct contrast, as a Black man, I am both incompetent and unqualified until I demonstrate otherwise. I also am untrustworthy, dishonest, indecent and most likely a “bad” guy . . . until I demonstrate and prove otherwise. Based on these assumptions/givens - whose life logically matters more?

White lives have always mattered, and mattered much more than everybody else’s lives.

Black people are merely trying to make the point that “Back lives matter . . . too.” Not “two” nor “to’’ but rather “too” as in addition to or also - it’s not complicated. White lives, White policemen - their lives have always mattered - there exist no documented recordings of White men being under attack merely because of the color of their skin. No rules or laws have had to be crafted to protect White lives from other people or some arm of the government. Yet we all know to what extent this White male-governed nation has had to go in an effort to protect and ensure the human/civil rights of Black, Brown, Red and Yellow Lives from White generated abuse, discrimination, hostility, exploitation and violence.

Am I lying? Stop me when I’m lying, please.

Trump’s America, i.e. the vast, overwhelming majority of “White America” has marginalized, trivialized and minimized the Coronavirus, and are making a strategic and deliberate stand this very moment by refusing to adhere to the medical and scientific experts and instead follow their Grand Pooh-Bah Lord himself, Donald J. Trump. He is dismissing the virus, and in the process placing Black and Brown folks in danger.

Trump, by insisting that schools open up in a few weeks, is insisting kids of color die in order to help him paint a fake picture of “normality” returning to the nation. Ain’t that a bitch?

My thought, stay with me now, if Trump’s “kind” and “type” could, as history illustrates, sell measles infected blankets to American Natives, and they did, deliberately deceive Blacks and inject syphilis into them, and they did, if the only nation a nuclear weapon has been employed was against Asian people, and it is, and if there are Brown babies in cages, still at the Rio Grande, as there are, then I can only conclude that this man, and the chunk of the demographic pie he speaks for, simply doesn’t give a damn about people dying in disproportionate numbers from this pandemic. The folks dying don’t matter, they’ve no real value in the small, non-inclusive thinking minds of Trump troops, because it appears, people of color are taking an inordinate hit, along with the elderly. That reality puts a smile across Trump’s America - so much so that they’re willing to sacrifice their elderly if it means taking out mainstream Blacks. It’s another example of White America hurting themselves, in order to hurt Black and Brown folks.

Trump is White America; White America is Trump... as if we didn’t already know.

Black people are regarded as Public Enemy #1 In Trump’s America. We are the contrived face of crime and violence - thus the police are permitted to use whatever primitive means they believe necessary to control and dominate, as Trump says, the environment. It is in this situation where we see Black people being treated in a fashion and manner which screams “you ain’t shit!” It’s a tad more difficult to eyewitness bank loans denied, job promotions denied, medical treatment denied and an “A” earned on a term paper denied, but, it’s pretty damn clear seeing that George Floyd was executed like an animal, as if he didn’t matter. He could be strong-armed in any shape, form or manner that White folks deemed appropriate.

Please note - White men have kept their power via lynch mobs, riots and vigilante justice.

The “president” lost the popular vote by the biggest percentage in well over a century, and the Senate Republican “majority” represents 15 million fewer Americans than our “minority” Democrats.

Black Americans, the endangered species we are, along with Brown people, are the prime motivating factors of why White folks are always “in flight,” fleeing any hint of integrating and intermingling with us, and endlessly geographically re-locating in an effort to isolate and insulate themselves from racial integration, diversity, equality and inclusion. They don’t want to live around people they regard as having no real value. Ponder the obvious: good side of town, great neighborhoods with great schools and shopping - White, bad part of town – wherever- it ain’t snow white, wherever Black or Brown folks congregate

Ain’t this a bitch? It ain’t complicated!

It seems logical to take this another step. I don’t believe most of Trump’s people actually “like” Black people. I believe these are the same, identically-minded White folks who instituted and maintained a separate, unfair and unequal America for centuries, because that is the social organization and structure they desired - apartheid, American style.

Black folks, facing a WASP population which has, in our minds, and that of most the world’s mind, made it clear how they feel about folks of color - are today demanding that our inherent, inalienable and intrinsic value be recognized, respected . . . and valued just like White folks lives are.

A part of that valuation: Blacks are as entitled to a good education, health care and economic security as the next person, as the White guy. The life skills and tools to do more than survive but thrive should be made available to all of this nation’s citizens. The American Dream should be attainable, achievable and doable to more than just White folks. Yes, our lives matter. We, too, are good, decent, honest, hard-working, god fearing folks like everyone else, and we are willing to fight for our lives, and that of our children, and their children’s children to matter in a land where we have given our all, blood, sweat and tears for our piece of the rock.
