The
National
Football League is
one of America’s premier
cultural battlefields, one
of the White man’s last desperate efforts in this divided
nation’s “culture wars” to hang on to some
long-held but contrived, fake, make-believe, artificial dominance and
superiority which they’ve pretended to have. This deception is
playing out within a sport where they’ve deliberately excluded
viable and able competition from fairly competing... in order to
maintain some form of “minority rule” for the foreseeable
future. This struggle is symbolic of the greater conflict waging
within US society for racial equality, inclusion, and diversity.
Noting
sports mirror society, and vice-versa… Only the “slightly”
delusional argue whether or not the
unfair
and complicated
“game
of life” in America has been historically “rigged,”
i.e., life’s outcome “artificially” influenced,
societal strings pulled by White men - be they either participants or
silent benefactors, but in general, the mainstream rank n’
file.
Only
the delusional.
If
you’ve any measurable amount of honesty in you, not
intelligence, just decency… you have no option but to admit to
this undeniable and obvious fact: White men have kept everyone
else in
America, “down,” in order to keep themselves on “top.”
And any “sharing of power” has been begrudging and
all-so-resentful in its spirit. They’ve fought against social
and civil progress, gone kicking and screaming in the face of a
civilized America
In
all facets of life, in
all matters that matter,
White men can be seen excluding legitimate competition from the
playing field.
This,
I believe, can be illustrated in vivid, highly defined black and
white by merely examining the games
that
America plays, our national pastimes/religions we worship, sports:
football, basketball, and baseball...golf, tennis, gymnastics,
soccer, track... etc., etc.
The
hallowed National
Football League,
one of America’s longest-running male soap operas, which I’ve
followed since the late 1960s/early 70s - is a living and breathing
personification of this cultural yearning to never relinquish White
male control, White dominance, even in the face of progress.
I’ve
lived through the methodical transference of power and domination on
the field - from White men to Black men. White men have given it
their best,
and when that didn’t work by the 1970s’ they resorted to
the lies, the cheating, the ideal that the game could only be
orchestrated by Great
White Hopes like
Troy Aikman, Marino (the truly great one), Peyton Manning and Tom
Brady clones… They strategically crafted the critical position
of
Quarterback,
which impacted and shaped the game itself - to accommodate the
arguably typical unathletic White player. However that hasn’t
been enough, thus one of America’s most loved national pastimes
has become predominated by and dominated by African American men.
All
the records of yesteryear’s segregated era of great White
gladiators have been fragmented, shattered if not demolished by Black
men during this era of inclusion. The game itself has been redefined
by the Black gladiator: Black men were forever branded physically
”inferior,” intellectually inept, and simply not capable
of “mastery” in sports. Interestingly, after our
ascension to the top, the argument became - “of course Blacks
are dominant, they’re essentially apes which can talk…”
Adding
insult to injury for White guys, (and perhaps most significant but
forbidden to be discussed) Black men have gained the “fruits”
of their labor - the desire and lust of
desirable
White women, allegedly some of the most physically attractive and
desirable White women. This attraction doesn’t sit well with
White guys in locker rooms, from little league to the NFL, and all
across these divided states.
Historically
speaking, there may be no greater “sin” a black man can
commit than to have sex with a White man’s daughter or sister.
I’d
submit this unwanted “change” has been met by White dudes
unwilling to give up their manhood, but unable to demonstrate on the
level
playing field that they were the better man they’d claimed to
be for centuries. This changing
of the gridiron guard,
one of the most absolute prestigious symbols of how a “real”
man would be defined, has left the rank n’ file, run of the
mill everyday Seth and Jasper angry, frustrated, and in search of
”Great White Hopes” to elevate for all to see, for their
sons to emulate and their daughters to desire.
It’s
been a rough road, all positions on the gridiron have come to be
dominated by Blacks - running back, receiver, cornerback, linebacker,
entire defenses are
all Black.
The last bastion of White guy dominance, White linemen and kickers.
And there are some gifted Unicorns like Kelce at Tight end.
And
now today the new endangered species… the Golden
Boy
field general, the great White Quarterback.
Let
me be sharp and blunt here: The league’s aristocratic Wall
Street country club of plantation owners would rather not have a
Black man as the face of their billion-dollar enterprise. It’s
why you have even fewer Black head coaches in the NFL than you do
QBs. And check this: like their good old boy Trump, they recognize
the millions and millions and millions of Trumpian-minded sports fans
who don’t want to see that “dark” branding, scores
of sports media types don’t want to see it, more coaches than
you’d guess don’t want to see it…
Corporate
sponsors understand it’s harder to push Lamar Jackson than it
is Peyton Manning or Baker Mayfield.
Josh
Allen, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence, and
Zach Wilson… are the newly
anointed ones
for which the White American fanbase is extremely craving and
longing. All American, wholesome Christian Soldiers -
See Tim Tebow -
all they have to do is not screw up, be competent and the road will
be paved and well lit for them, America, White America will crown
them all. The endorsements and accolades will pour in. Mediocrity
will be glorified and rewarded.
Jackie
Robinson dipped in vanilla, but note there are no unspoken rules that
forbid White guys playing running back in the NFL, but beyond
Christian McCaffery, can’t nobody measure up. Whose fault is
that? I’m just saying.
The
entrenched Anglo Saxon establishment which is
the
NFL, like other US institutions and organizations, is attempting to
hang on to power, clout, and control. The last thing they want to see
is the NFL looking like The NBA. They want that lucrative global
revenue stream to grow without offending a White male base which
hates
the United Nations, i.e.,
hates most
of the world. The tap dance the owners will attempt will be
interesting, like watching White guys dance.
They
hate listening to “lift
every voice and sing…”
put on JB’s “Say
it loud, I’m Black n’ I’m proud baby, heads
will spin!”
Once
more, check it - the last thing roughly 75 to 80 million Trump-loving
White people want to see is “their” America and Americana
itself, such as the NFL, look like an environment where all people
are allowed to grow and flourish based on their skills, tools, and
abilities - instead of skin color - weighed and measured by their
character, rather than their skin color.
America,
where liberty, equality, freedom, justice, and opportunity for
all are
the last thing millions, Trump’s America, including sports
fans, want to see.
