We've seen an interesting response to the 3 new ways to contribute to BlackCommentator. In the last two weeks, eighteen people have made either a one-time contribution or have commited to recurring contributions. That's not as many people as we had hoped, but it makes a big difference in the number of equivilent BC Paid Subscribers. As you can see by comparing the old and new BC Survival Goal graphs, you've moved us over a half percent closer to that 20% goal.

Update – Here’s the graph from July 13th:

Update – Here’s this week’s graph:

Obviously, we need to build momentum to reach the BC Survival Goal by the end of the year. There's just no way for us to continue beyond the end of the last BC Paid Subscription unless we have 20% of our readers become BC Paid Subscribers (or the equivalent, including BC Contributions). As we've mentioned before, once we reach the 20% goal, we can begin the outreach plans we have to decrease the “Digital Divide” in under-served, economically-strapped areas.  We dream of that, but our reality is that we either reach the 20% by the end of 2006, or we don’t continue to publish beyond the end of the last BC Paid Subscription.  It’s simple economics, and the BC Readers will determine which way BC goes – onward, or out.

If you've been considering giving support to BC, now is the time to do it. Become a BC Paid Subscriber. Email me at [email protected] to find out how to purchase gift subscriptions for your friends and family. If you haven't yet become a , visit the Sign Up page. And as always, if supporting BC places too large a financial burden on you, please go to the Sign Up page and request a Complimentary BC Paid Subscription. Wherever you are in your life journey, we want for BC to be there for you.

When you do make a contribution to support BC, please let us know if we may publish your name on the Friends of BC page.

If you want to know more about what it means to become a BC Paid Subscriber please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page. If you have a question we didn't answer, please let us know by contacting Nancy Littlefield. Thank you.
