Obamatrocities and the National Past Time of Denial - Keeping It Real - By Larry Pinkney - BlackCommentator.com Editorial Board

From the continuance of the despicable international U.S. kidnapping and torture program, euphemistically known as rendition, to the de facto gutting / shredding of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights under the ongoing Patriot Act, to the deadly and increasing U.S. military drone attacks on the sovereign territory of Pakistan, to the enormous escalation of U.S. troops (and private corporate contractors) in Afghanistan; the atrocities of the Obama / Biden / Rahm Emanuel administration steadily mount.

These Obamatrocities are undeniable. Yet, much of the populace of this nation is in almost total denial, aided and abetted by a lying, hypocritically complicit U.S. corporate (self-described) news media. Remember that the objective of the corporate media is to form public opinion, not inform it.

The United States is an Empire with at least 120 military bases around the world, not including U.S. CIA operations in various nations throughout the world. Meanwhile, the peoples within this nation suffer increasing joblessness, homelessness, imprisonment, lack of universal health care and a further endless list of economic, political, and social horrors.

While the blatant right wingers of this nation engage in opportunistic obstructionism, far too many in the left - instead of subordinating their / our reconcilable ideological differences for the common good of the every day masses of Black, White, Brown, Red, and Yellow peoples (nationally and globally) - are perilously quibbling and intellectually masturbating about whether or not they are Marxists, Trotskyites, Maoists, or Anarchists, etc. This must cease, forthwith. The peril of this quibbling should be self evident; even as the well-financed opportunist right wingers are busy organizing in an effort to confuse and manipulate the people. We of the left should be educating and organizing to clarify the issues and seriously empower the people with viable alternatives.

And what are the so-called liberals doing? They are doing what they have consistently done; playing footsie with the Democratic Party foxes and in so doing, actually facilitating the Republican Party wolves. By their own hypocrisy and lack of back bone, they are, in fact, assisting in the ushering in of an even further political, economic, and social shift to the political right wing. Thanks to the hypocrisy and spinelessness of so-called liberals, regarding the Obama / Biden / Rahm Emanuel clique, the terms centrist and progressive have become virtually and in essence null and void, utterly meaningless in any real sense.

It is time to relegate the manipulatively meaningless rhetoric of hope to the garbage bin where it belongs, and establish a clearly defined, actualized vision - now - in the present - for the future. The outrages being cynically committed by the Obama / Biden / Rahm Emanuel administration against the peoples of Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Honduras, Palestine, Haiti, and yes, against the American peoples ourselves, within this nation, are undeniable and must unrelentingly be struggled against.

In the very name of fighting against the terrorism that the policies of U.S. military invasion, occupation, corporate greed, and hypocrisy that the policies of this government has itself spawned, many peoples of the world are, in fact, being terrorized militarily, while the peoples in this nation are facing increased political repression, the gutting of civil liberties, growing economic disparities, constant corporate greed, and unceasing government and media distortions and lies.

The Obama administration did not inherit the thousands more troops it is in the process of sending to Afghanistan, and it should have forthrightly and boldly disinherited itself from the outrageous abuses of the previous Bush / Cheney administration; instead, it has chosen to continue and expand upon these ill-fated and unjust policies both externally and internally.

Each one teach one! Educate, agitate, and organize as if our lives depend on it; for indeed they do!

Onward now, while there may still be time!
