Embolden:
give courage to, make brave/braver, encourage, hearten, strengthen, -
stiffen the resolve of, lift the morale of, rouse, stir, stimulate,
cheer, rally, give confidence, brace, fire, inflame, animate,
motivate… These
are the raw emotions Donald Trump unleashed a few years ago which had
been trapped right beneath the bubbling-hot surface of the Grand Ol’
Party (GOP) for the last few decades.
The
random and reckless executions of 10 innocent Black people in
Buffalo, New York over this last weekend, and 3 others injured, by an
18-year-old undisputed White supremacist, all but hammers home the
undeniable fact that much of America, much of White America, really
hasn’t changed. There are vast insidious members, segments, and
slices of the White race that haven’t grown, matured,
progressed or evolved to the point of being “civilized.”
Mainstream
White American culture wasn’t
civilized
when slave plantations, Indian reservations, and Japanese Internment
camps were spread across the land, and they’re still not
civilized
with e-commerce, e-cars, or AI – instead, WASP culture has
demonstrated what appears to be their innate inability
to see people as people, and
I’d suggest that’s because not much has really changed
within European-American culture over the last century.
The
Right
in America, that’s Trump and DeSantis’s America, they
honestly and truly don’t want folks of color as their
neighbors, bosses, or in-laws - end of the story.
This
savage slaughtering brings to mind Frederick Douglass’s
4th-of-July quote:
What, to the American slave, is your Fourth of July? I answer a day
that reveals to him, more than all other days of the year, the gross
injustice and cruelty to which he is a constant victim. To him, your
celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your
national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are
empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants, brass fronted
impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your
prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your
religious parade and solemnity, are, to Him, mere bombast, fraud,
deception, impiety, and hypocrisy - a thin veil to cover up crimes
that would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation of the
earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the
people of the United States at this very hour.
What
was May 14th, 2022, when this Klansman attacked innocent black
shoppers?
Yet
another day, another prime example of crimes that would disgrace a
nation of savages. And please note, there’s a nationwide
narrative, a White folk-tale - The “Great Replacement Theory”
- which minimizes, rationalizes, and even justifies these murders.
There’s a mindset embedded in the very fabric of America that
believes as this young deranged savage does. White people are on the
verge of being “replaced” in the very nation they stole
and built with the blood, sweat, and tears of people of color, who
they pimped and exploited.
They
fear
the chickens are coming home to roost,
that
every dog has its day, and
we all get what’s coming to us.
That’s why they’re “locked and cocked,”
living in micro-fortresses. Yes, as a nation that has deliberately,
strategically and tactically engaged in barbarism and genocide,
perhaps the
bell does ring for thee.
They envision the USA going the way of Rhodesia
and
Johannesburg
like
that’s a bad thing. They yearn to institute minority rule,
American Apartheid, forever.
Somebody
go put on Soul Brother #!, the Godfather of Soul classic 1974 hit,
“The Big Payback.”
Listen,
Trump didn’t change the GOP, he emboldened
it, he revealed “who” and “what” the party’s
rank and file used to openly be, and still are. Without hesitation, I
can attest that today, still, they really are primitive-minded,
vindictive, mean-spirited, and as evil as they’ve ever been.
In
this dysfunctional relationship, White people, specifically, White
males, are the abusive, stalker boyfriend who are hell-bent on
destroying the Black girl who won’t give him the time of day.
All
you have to do is listen to
FOX News, Newsmax, or Brietbart.com, - check
out
Tucker Carlson,
or AM hate radio for a few minutes - it sounds like a “Klan-Lite”
meeting. The people who gather across America to listen and
contribute sound like 21st-century versions of Archie Bunker, but
much meaner and cruel, almost heartless, if not soulless.
I
really wish the NFL,
MLB, - NHL, NCAA, NASCAR, and the NA
would stop underwriting AM hate radio stations across America,
starting here in Denver with iHeartRadio’s
850 KOA.
I
work with folks, in a public high school, who work with Black and
Brown children every day, all day, yet nevertheless feel and sound
just like those folks on hate radio. They will offer up lame,
trifling excuses, and rational justification for this heinous act, as
some did with George Zimmerman, Kyle Rittenhouse, Dylan Root, and
probably even Timothy McVey. They’ll be sympathetic, empathic,
and have immense, endless pity for this cold-blooded murderer. If
nothing else, this killer will be shielded by - “he’s not
racist or Republican,” he’s just plain old crazy.
What’s
wrong with them? The meanness and cruelty of it all!
Buffalo,
Charlottesville, the bi-weekly George Floyd incidents, another
incident of a school security cop jumping on a 10-year-old Black
girl, or a trooper hitting
a 77-year-old Black woman… When does it stop?
Never.
It
never has. White racism, discrimination, and hostility have never
ceased to exist. It was swept under the proverbial rug and merely
denied, enthusiastically so. Trump was both arrogant and ignorant
enough that he stood on Mt Rushmore and screamed it out to the whole
wide world. To know, all of my caramel life, White folks have told me
that all my claims of white folks being white folks is just a figment
of my imagination. I can’t look at my own faults or failures or
those of the Black person I may be defending. It’s ridiculous.
The
only racist White folks are supposedly living in a trailer park in
Idaho or Mississippi - a lowly tow truck driver, sanitation worker,
or some waitress at a good ol’ boy truck stop. White people
please! Try brain surgeon, lawyer, bank VP, cop, teacher, nurse,
architect, engineer, butcher, baker, and computer chipmaker. Down
South, up North, out West, or over in the East.
My
thoughts… When did conservative White America, “mainstream”
White America - the “silent majority,” - in what year did
they become racially
colorblind? 1960?
1980? 2000? - And then, will they not admit they’ve now flipped
and are basically an openly racist, sexist, and elitist cult of White
folks who fear they are yesterday
and
not
tomorrow.
That’s what they see today, that they’ve no future like
the one they had, where the “game of life,”
in all matters which matter –
is rigged so that Black folks and other folks of color lose. We come
out of the womb, and it’s against
all odds.
Isn’t
the term “comeuppance?” Stemming from a righteous fear, a
well-earned paranoia? Some people have a reason to be afraid of
equality and fairness?
But
let’s be honest, this is the beginning, not the end. Their fear
and paranoia only grow and deepen. They are resentful of “others’”
success, prosperity, security, and well-being. No one of color is
worthy of anything, we’re all born hustlers, thieves, and
gangsters. Their desire to simply take away and erase the civil
rights advancements of the last half-century illustrates, in vivid
black and white, the disdain they have for equality, justice, and
freedom.
White
America has no conscience, White America needs a reformation…they’re
like cave people with electricity. Guided missiles and misguided
minds. Thank you, Martin.
What
this means is the vast, overwhelming percentage of the
European-American population really hasn’t intellectually or
spiritually grown nor matured over the last half-century in how they
see race, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, economics, culture, and
skin color in America.
Why?
Because
they struggle with the high-minded concept that Black folks are 100%
human. They always have. That explains why they’ve done to us
what they have, and why they continue to act like Neanderthals,
somehow trapped in the 21st century.
