I
find this thought both “interesting” and
thought-provoking: political novice and pawn,
Herschel Walker, along
with Disney’s Splash
Mountain water log ride
both illustrate the depth
and darkness of White America’s stone blind hatred for Black
folks.
Their
place on the cultural and political battlefield exemplifies how
hypocritical, trivial, trifling, and inconsequential the “right”
in America can be - these are the conflicts and disagreements that
White America elevates to divisive lines
in the sand, and
both issues, the man and the theme park ride have become racial
loyalty litmus tests which determines one’s genuine and
authentic patriotism to the White race.
No,
not loyalty to the USA, democracy, equality, and justice, but rather
to the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant base that is Trump’s Grand
Old Party, (TGOP).
Trump’s
America is more about racial domination and control than it is about
personal freedoms, liberty, justice, and equality.
Conservative/Confederate-minded,
people’s objection to “flipping” Splash
Mountain from
questionable and controversial to positive and affirming demonstrates
this subgroup’s disconnection and indifference to diversity and
inclusion - both vital characteristics of a “civilized
civilization.”
Something
as abstract as a park ride at Disneyland has been tactically
transformed into a cultural battlefield. The iconic Splash
Mountain
is an extremely
popular water ride derived from Walt Disney’s 1949 movie “Song
of the South.” From
its release, the movie on which the wildly popular ride is based was
branded offensive, overly stereotypic, and ridiculously idyllic in
its depiction of Black folk’s plight during the horrors of US
slavery. It’s contended it honestly glorifies and minimizes the
dehumanizing practice.
Disney
thought the opposite. He naively thought it showcased “negro”
culture, common sense musings, and the wit and intelligence of a
well-seasoned Black sage-like Uncle Remus. Slavery was merely a
given…. Black folks saw him as an Uncle
Tom employed to pretty up
a barbaric environment to sell a story. One must conclude that the
Disney organization valued Song
of the South enough and
understood the controversy to the point that they transformed the
characters into animals to avoid the argument and storm, but adding
the ride in 1989, it was seen as dismissing the Black perspective and
pleasing White folks - most of the people I’d say, based on the
long lines to ride it, who couldn’t care less if it offends
Black folks.
Nevertheless,
the outrage over rebranding the ride with Disney’s first (and
only) Black princess, Tianna, is a predictable but still pathetically
sad overreaction to what millions of White folks view as “Black
Power” gone mad.
We’re unchained, and now we want vengeance and payback.

But
now let’s move on to Hershel Walker and his trying to unseat
Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock. He’s like a Trojan jackass,
hollow head to toe, stuffed full of white aspirations for power,
running against the noble Senator Warnock. Herschel’s an
ex-gridiron gladiator who is now yet another one of the official
negro minstrels who do a little jig for “Conservative”
(racist/sexist/elitist and xenophobic) White folks. Here’s but
another useful idiot being pimped and exploited by Trump and his
21st-century Klan-like cult.
I’ve
always regarded Walker as the epitome of the cocky
dumbass jock, or Jethro
Bowden from the Beverly
Hillbillies, dipped in
chocolate. However, since he’s decided to shovel coal for
Trump’s train, I’ve no respect whatsoever for this Uncle
Tom. He’s allowing himself to be pitted against an officer
and gentleman, a man of
the cloth in Senator Warnock who is in DC trying to do the good work
required to help his people, while this Buffoon is shuckin’ n’
jivin’ to help Trump steal money and destroy this nation’s
already fragile democracy.
Will
white Georgians choose a “shifty,” angry, puppet as
opposed to a good and decent Black Reverend?
Is
this not what Dr. King meant when he said: “Morality
cannot be legislated, but behavior can be regulated. Judicial decrees
may not change the heart, but they can restrain the heartless.”
Black
and Brown folks can’t force
or shame the mainstream
USA into being fair and open-minded. White America has never, ever
been fair and open-minded. As Black Power icon, Stokley Carmichael,
said, White America has no
conscience,” and
I’d add not much heart either.
Contemplate
this: Juneteenth as
a holiday was observed last weekend, and I guarantee you there are
millions of White folks who refused to close their own business or
take an optional day off work, to legitimize,
dignify and
honor the
plight of Black folk. In the eyes of, you don’t want to know
how many… whether you want to believe it or not - Juneteenth
was “Nigger Day 2” (MLK Day is Nigger
Day 1…original.)
Roll your eyes or chuckle if you’d like, but if you don’t
believe that type of all
so-very telling verbiage
isn’t tossed around behind closed doors…
