Laura Loomer, the far right-wing Maga provocateur, Trump confidante, and internet personality, has never worked in the White House or in any government position, but that has not prevented her from weighing in on any issue she deems worthy of her opinion. Most recently, the acerbic and callous social media influencer directed her acidic and racist vitriol toward several prominent Black women politicians, primarily to distract from and denigrate political distinctions.

For those of you unfamiliar with this political carnival barker, let me bring you up to speed. Loomer has called Rep. Jasmine Crockett a “ghetto Black bitch,” “Ghetto DEI Shaniqua,” “hood rat,” “ratchet,” “Ghetto boo thing” with “Shaniqua nails” who should be “working at KFC.” Girlfriend was just getting warmed up! She went for Congresswoman Cori Bush, referring to her as “a ghetto Black woman who can barely speak English.” She celebrated late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee’s death, stating that Lee was a “ghetto bitch,” labeled Somali Congresswoman Ilhan Omar as a “Black dog,” and accused former Vice President Kamala Harris of being a “stupid, brain-dead, lying bitch,”even targeted her fellow right-wing cohort Candace Owens, castigating her as a “nappy-headed Black bitch.” Let’s not forget her vitriol toward Attorney Fani Willis. Describing an event for Willis as smelling like “fried chicken and marijuana.” She then remarked, “Stereotypes exist for a reason.” She asserted that Willis, Harris, and Attorney General Letitia James are “meritless DEI Shaniquas.” And most recently, she labeled Rep. Angie Nixon, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Cori Bush, and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as “ghetto, entitled, race-obsessed, destructive Black bitches.” Girl, please! You should be even a fraction as accomplished as each of those women!

Indeed, her putrid vermin is so rancid that even former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a right-wing activist who previously used her position as a representative from Georgia to espouse negative rhetoric, responded to Loomer on social media, igniting an X feud. “I’m not a Democrat, and I’m not supporting Angie Nixon, but the Republican Party and President Trump own Laura Loomer and her nonstop vitriol. When will the President and the Republican Party reject her and her hateful racist behavior? They refuse to, which tells you everything you need to know.” Drop the mic! Touchdown! Mind you, Greene is the same person who was the keynote speaker at a White nationalist conference. Go figure!

Greene isn’t the only person unsettled by Loomer’s unhinged antics. Maryland Governor and potential 2028 presidential candidate, Wes Moore, weighed in on the drama on Twitter/X @iamwesmoore@LauraLoomer.

"You traffic in low-level insults, cruelty, and ugliness. You attack and insult Black women because you believe peddling racism is good for your clicks and your business model. And while everyone with internet access and ignorant opinions doesn’t deserve a response, this is someone who is an advisor of Donald Trump and who should be condemned by all. We will never let anyone steal our joy or let those that don’t matter too much, matter too much. But to Laura Loomer, if you are going to attack brilliant, bold, beautiful Black women, know this: they are way out of your league. Respectfully, I suggest you sit this one out.” Preach, brotha! Loomer responded by attacking Moore as being a fraud. Look who’s talking!

Truth be told, we cannot dismiss Loomer as some obscure person shouting tirades on the internet. Trump has publicly lauded her work, and reliable reporting has verified her political proximity to him and her considerable influence inside his political circle. In April 2025, she met with Trump at the White House and persuaded him to terminate personnel she believed were insufficiently loyal to him and his larger agenda. This is the same person who promoted conspiracy theories about 9/11, yet Trump invited her to a 9/11 memorial event during his 2024 campaign. Thus, when Republicans demand accountability for inflammatory rhetoric from people associated with Democrats and the left, they must demand similar denouncements from their fellow conservatives. Holding individuals accountable for irresponsible rhetoric cannot solely be a partisan endeavor.

One of the few accurate things that Loomer has said is that stereotypes have a basis in fact. This was evident in her wrongheaded and inaccurate attacks on highly successful Black women. By doing so, Loomer was propagating decade- or century-old stereotypes about Black women as “loud,” “angry,” “domineering,” etc., which came from propaganda during slavery to dehumanize, manipulate, and control. Such reductive stereotypes were further amplified through racially offensive performances and, decades later, mainstreamed in popular culture. Loomer’s tirades integrate huge spoonfuls of misogynoir, the term coined by Northwestern University Professor Moya Bailey to describe the combination of misogyny (as exemplified by her use of the word b******) and anti-Black racism.

By the late 1960s and ’70s, in response to increasing levels of integration, or rather desegregation, in many segments of the nation, the term ghetto was frequently invoked to describe Black and Latino people as behaving in a “low-class manner.” Often offensive, the term implied stereotypes that characterized Black and Hispanic people as low-income, unkempt, and lewd. The definition of the term as an adjective and these characteristics were associated with experiences growing up in low-income neighborhoods.

It is sad that we have arrived at a juncture where denouncing racism is based on political circumstances. Black women do not have to be short of immortal to be treated like human beings. Additionally, no politician should have to consult certain political gatekeepers before declaring that racism, sexism, anti-Semitism etc. are wrong and totally unacceptable. If Republicans cannot say that racism is wrong, and that President Trump should disavow individuals who traffic in this kind of hateful, vile, and bigoted garbage, then they need to surrender any pretense of moral authority. Silence means complicity.

The Republican Party must find the backbone to condemn hate when it comes from deplorable people such as Laura Loomer and others who define themselves as members of their party if they are genuinely serious about being an open, political tent. Case closed.
